Booking & rental terms
The minimum rental period for our vehicles is 7 days; during school holidays it is 14 days. Weekend trips outside the holiday season are an exception – please ask us.
For rentals of 2 weeks or more you get a discount on the rental price of your chosen vehicle!
Please ask ELK ReiseMobile about discounts for rentals of 3, 4 or more weeks.
The agreed rental period is binding. If you would like to change it, you must inform us at least 60 days before the agreed start of the rental; ELK Reisemobile must agree in writing and have capacity for the change. The rental period must also be in the same calendar year and correspond to the booked scope.
The following services are included in the rental price and the mandatory service fee for all vehicles:

- Vehicle fluids filled to maximum (oil, screen wash, coolant etc.)
NOT included in the rental price are fuel costs, AdBlue, tolls, parking, camping, pitch and ferry fees, fines and other penalties as well as other operating costs.
There is no entitlement to a specific vehicle. We reserve the right to provide a comparable vehicle should the booked vehicle not be available for unforeseen reasons.

You can cancel the rental agreement. In this case, a percentage of the rental price is charged as a cancellation fee, depending on when you cancel before the start of the rental.

If you do not collect the vehicle without informing us, the full rental price is due.

Licence & driving
Your rental vehicle may only be used on public roads. Please treat it with care and in accordance with the relevant regulations and technical rules. Use the operating instructions and handbooks in the vehicle. Always lock the vehicle when leaving it.
Please regularly check the vehicle’s operational readiness and roadworthiness, especially oil and water levels and tyre pressure.
No – smoking is strictly prohibited in all our vehicles.
First, note the possible payload (gross vehicle weight max. 3.5 t) of the vehicle. When loading, store heavy items on the floor and distribute the weight evenly.
For all our vehicles you need a class 3 or B driving licence, which entitles you to drive motorhomes up to 3.5 t gross weight. Renters must be at least 21 years old and have held their licence for at least one year. If in doubt, the necessary driving experience must be proven, e.g. by a test drive.
Large motorhomes can travel at 130 to 150 km/h.
Prices, deposit & payment
Down payment
After we have confirmed your reservation in writing, please pay the down payment within 7 days. The down payment is 20 % of the rental price. If this deadline and the grace period are not met, we may terminate the contract without notice.
Balance
The remaining rental price, the service fee and other payments are due 14 days before the agreed start of the rental.
Deposit
You pay the €1,500 deposit at vehicle handover by bank transfer, credit card or debit card.
Other costs:
Fuel costs, tolls, parking, camping, pitch and ferry fees, fines and other penalties are borne by you as the renter.

All vehicles include 300 free kilometres per day. Extra mileage packages of 500 km (€140) and 1,000 km (€280) can be added. If no package is booked in advance, we charge €0.39 for every additional kilometre.
You can pay by bank transfer, debit card or credit card.
The deposit of €1,500 is to be paid by bank transfer, credit card or debit card. Payment by credit card is preferred. The deposit is only refunded after the exterior wash of the vehicle.
The deposit for each of our vehicles is €1,500 and must be paid by bank transfer, credit card or debit card at the latest at vehicle handover. For short-notice bookings (less than 28 days before the rental), the deposit and rental price are due immediately.
The deposit insurance (holiday protection package) costs between €10.90/day, €13.90/day and €16.90/day.
Pick-up & return
We can deliver and collect your rental vehicle within a 50 km radius from Monday (until 5 pm) to Friday (until 12 noon). By phone arrangement we can also find a solution for Friday afternoon and Saturday. We charge a flat fee of €75 for this service.
We also charge a flat fee of €75 for delivery to and collection from Munich Airport (MUC).
For hygiene reasons we usually hand over our vehicles with an empty fresh water tank. If you wish, we are happy to fill the tank by arrangement for a one-off fee of €5.00.
Please note that despite careful checks of the tank we accept no liability for the water quality. You should not drink the water from the fresh water tank.
The rental vehicle is handed over with a full fuel tank and full AdBlue tank. Please return the vehicle fully refuelled as well. For every missing litre we charge €2.50 for fuel and €2.00 for AdBlue (prices may vary with market prices).
The vehicle is normally returned on the morning of the last rental day. Any deviations must be discussed in advance. Sunday returns are possible by arrangement. We then inspect the vehicle together and enter any new damage in the form. Please report any damage before the inspection. You then receive a final invoice and your deposit back.
Please note that the vehicle must be returned fully refuelled, with emptied toilet and water tanks and cleaned inside. You can find our elk tip for a clean vehicle HERE.
You must clean the interior of the vehicle before returning it. Here is a checklist of what to consider. If you would like us to clean the vehicle, we charge a fee of €150. If the vehicle is not properly cleaned, we will invoice you for it.
- Cab cleaned, floor wiped
- Handbooks, operating instructions and vehicle documents complete
- Living area floor swept and wiped
- Cupboards and drawers wiped out
- No personal items left in the vehicle
- Furniture fronts and mirrors cleaned
- No rubbish left in the vehicle
- Toilet cassette completely emptied and cleaned
- Waste water and fresh water tanks emptied
- Washroom thoroughly cleaned, hair removed from the drain
- Fridge thoroughly cleaned, freezer compartment defrosted
- Hob and the stainless steel area below clean
- Seating group properly assembled, all cushions stain-free
- Mattresses clean and vacuumed – please watch out for hair
- Awning or porch awning cleaned
- Additionally ordered equipment complete
- Fuel tank completely full – please choose a petrol station close by
We arrange an appointment for vehicle collection a few days in advance. Pick-up and return are possible Monday to Saturday, and Sunday returns can be arranged. You first receive a 45-minute briefing on your vehicle and we answer all questions about on-board systems and equipment. All defects on the motorhome are also documented. Please bring the driving licence and ID card of all registered drivers as well as the €1,500 deposit (cash).
For rentals of 4 days or more, the pick-up and return days are each charged as one rental day. Deviations are possible by arrangement. We recommend driving a short distance on the first day to start your holiday relaxed.
To register your booking we need a valid driving licence and a valid ID card from all registered drivers.
Please let us know early if you cannot return the vehicle on the agreed day.
If the vehicle is already rented for the following days, unfortunately any resulting costs must be borne by you.
Technology & equipment
The equipment of our motorhomes varies by vehicle; details can be found on the individual vehicle pages. The basic equipment of the large motorhomes includes bed, hob, seating area, shower and toilet. The sleeping area includes mattresses and mattress protectors. All vehicles also have safety equipment including hi-vis vests for every seat, warning triangle, first aid kit, broom set and tyre inflation kit or spare wheel.
For hygiene reasons, bed linen, duvets and pillows as well as crockery, pots and pans must be brought along.

For hygiene reasons we only provide mattresses and mattress protectors. Please bring your own duvets, pillows and bed linen, towels, toiletries as well as crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and washing-up liquid. A cooking set and bedding can also be rented from us for a fee.
Our service fee includes a detailed introduction to the on-board systems of the vehicle, during which you can ask any questions. All motorhomes also contain handbooks and operating instructions.
On the road & abroad
No, you do not need a GoBox, as all motorhomes we rent weigh under 3.5 t, so only a vignette (Pickerl) is required. You can travel from Bavaria to Austria without any problem.
Please inform us of any damage by phone.
If repairs to the motorhome become necessary during your trip to continue safely, you can have them carried out by an authorised FIAT dealer. The repair is part of the insurance cover for Knaus and Weinsberg models. You pay the amount in advance and we settle it on your return.
For VW vehicles, however, you may only commission repairs up to €150. For higher costs, please only proceed with the consent of ELK Reisemobile. Please be sure to keep the original repair receipts.
Travelling to other European countries is usually unproblematic. However, you are responsible for informing yourself about the regulations and traffic rules of each country you travel to. In particular, research the rules for camping, stopping and overnight stays in urban areas, on beaches, at service areas and car parks. Please also note entry bans for certain countries.
Every country has its own rules and regulations. Please inform yourself before your trip and follow the rules – non-compliance can result in fines.
Insurance, damage & pets
Enjoy special insurance cover when renting Knaus and Weinsberg vehicles. These exclusive benefits are free of charge for you.
Please report any damage or loss you have caused when returning the vehicle. Larger accident damage, however, must be reported to us immediately by phone on +49 8709 923923. All damage or losses you have caused will be charged to you and deducted from the deposit.
Insure your deposit: we recommend a deposit insurance for €6 to €16 / day.
In case of damage or an accident, please contact us immediately on +49 8709 923923 or +49 171 8515817. Please do not wait until the vehicle is returned.
All our motorhomes have fully comprehensive or partial cover insurance. The excess for fully comprehensive cover is a maximum of €1,500 per claim for all vehicles.
Whether pets are allowed is stated in the information for each rental vehicle. Please let us know if you are bringing a pet and follow the transport conditions for your animal during the rental. To cover cleaning costs we charge a flat fee of €7.50 per rental day. If your pet causes heavy soiling, we will carry out a special cleaning at your expense.
